It’s been many amoon since I posted anything and I do enjoy a good type. Blogger it is to be and hopefully so it shall stay. There’s a strange little castle picture up there in the corner, but it’s not too intrusive and far better than a pic of an old 50’s mic or something so I’ll let it pass for now. Might even grow to love it. Particularly as I’ve stayed in a castle. Looking closer it’s not a castle it’s a park or something. Never mind I’ve been to parks too. (n.b. since writing this I’ve edited the page. A park just isn’t me and it had to go. That’s just how things are…..)

Been listening to Dave Van Ronk’s beautifully haunting ‘Last Call’. A hymn to the drunken and heartbroken, it is mostly a fragile but soulful irish sounding vocal and melody with words that resonate with anyone that ever shed a tear full of alcohol. A character in a Lawrence Block novel described it as the ‘national anthem’ and I’ll not disagree.
Lawrence Block is another recent discovery. A master of the art of detective story telling, up there with Elmore Leonard and James Ellroy. Just grab any of them, I reckon they’re all going
to be great.
