Last week (tuesday) I played at The Pilgrim a cool old pub in Liverpool. I was supporting Micheal Weston King a fine americana/country style singer-songwriter originally from these parts but since become a travellin’ man.
Robbie Taylor played his fiddle and mandolin with me and it was great to perform for a listening audience. Thanks all who were there.
I was a bit suspicious of the whole thing at first because it seemed to me that the streets were teaming with odd people, shuffling drunkenly or insanely about. And I couldn’t for the life of me work out how to sit down or stand up without first having to go through the manouvre in my mind. One of those days I guess is the expression. When Robbie plugged in his fiddle for the first song and his pick up fell off I was convinced I should have styed home watched the footy (our mighty Reds beat Real Betis 2-1) and climbed into bed after double checking the gas and the locks. We rallied and played a good show in my humbleish opinion.
Set list
Holy Moses

Speke to Waterloo
Watch and Listen
The Ballad of Alaska
Taking It All to Heart.
Thanks to the Hells Ditch promoters for inviting me to play.

Its a bit mad, randomly stumbling through spanish and american blogs in the dead of night only to find someone who has just played a gig in the pilgrim.
Is ’speke to waterloo’ about the 86 bus? I used to have to do that journey all the time. Mind numbing.
