Last night me and Chris played Archies in Prestatyn, North Wales.
As a child, I was forever on holiday somewhere near Prestatyn, or so it seemed. The journey would take 3 hours yet it was less than 50 miles away. The roads or rather road, was always full of other summer holidayers, cars breaking down, horrible hot dog stalls and Jimmy bloody Young on the radio.
Now there’s great roads and it only takes an hour or so and if you really want you can load up at Macdonalds or Little Chef.
Archie’s is a posh looking ‘city bar’ and as we pulled up some lads shouted ‘play some floyd tonight’ and I got an odd feeling.
Archie’s is ok, owned by Jimmy Mc a nice guy who once played with Squeeze or Chris Difford, but I think they usually have cover versions sang at ‘em. However, they were polite enough, listened a bit and clapped so it was ok in a way.
We eventually got back in the car, hit the coast road over the weirdly modern Flint bridge and headed back to the big city.
Didn’t hear any Welsh voices all night.
