I’d never been to Tottington ’til last night.
Tottington is just outside Bury and we were on the way to play Hark to Towler a pub up there. We got lost (of course) but Vidar -our jockey, the art of Zen Navigation (c 2005) and a bloke in a kebab shop got us there safe and sound.
Great little gig is this, a prober pub venue. Mein host Jon has done the place up with a stage, keith richard ciggy machine and a selction of great videos on the big screen. Last night there were old Beat Club clips of Captain Beefheart, Doors, Marvin Gaye and loads more.
A smattering of people were in tonight but a friendly lot they were. I did an acoustic set first and was bemused to find myself on the big screen, the lighting was such that i appeared to be, well Bob Dylan. But that’s guiness for you.

Little break and then ‘Ladie’s n Genemen, The Bank of England!’ and on we toddled.
We’ve not played much recently but we have a great vibe together. We even threw in a version of Taking it All to Heart that only Chris and I knew properly, but it was fantastic even if we did forget the Wind Cries Mary ending.
After the show, sold some cds and sampled Jägermeister, brandy and guiness. Ow!
On the drive home Martyn took the, frankly, Bruce Forsyth style picture of me that frightens the kids, at the top of the page. He also knew a short cut that took us 30 miles out of the way, but hey, this is rock ‘n’ roll pussies!*
