Many moons ago as a mere pup I was in a band called 16 Tambourines. Our first gig was at the Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool for a benefit concert called ‘Drums Over The Mersey’. Echo & The Bunnymen were the headliners. We started at the top then worked our way backwards. ho ho.
The first version of the band was me, Dave Curtis, Pete Somerville, Rob ? (sorry Rob) and Tony Mcguigan. Eventually we became a 3 piece; me, Tony Mc and Tony Elliot, sometimes augmented by Brian Chin before we became a 6 headed beast that got signed to Arista/BMG.
We released an album ‘How Green Is Your Valley?’ and a couple of singles which scratched the lower reaches of the charts in the early 90s before being dumped on our arses and onto the dole. Lots of fun was had on the journey even if the album was a bit too polite for my tastes.
The album is available through various online sources, usually ebay, and a remastered version was released in Japan a couple of years ago.
We were a pretty good live band and were considered ‘unlucky’ not to make it. Cest La vie as the old folks say.
Anyway, you can listen to us live at the Hammersmith Odeon by going here.

I remember seeing you all in Aberdeen way back supporting Wet Wet Wet.. what’s happened to you now???
Erm, you can see what I’m up to on this site. Or do you mean ‘Damn, what the hell happened to you?’ The others are still around Liverpool, but I only see a lot of Tony the drummer. He’s still playing.
